Hey there! My name is Megan Dekok and I live in Detroit, MI. I'm really into making burritos and hanging with my cat Ricki.
Here's a lil rundown on me work-wise. I got a bachelor’s degree in graphic design from Wayne State University in Detroit. The diploma MIGHT be in my closet? Maybe? I pursued my interest in editorial design with an internship at Hour Media, eventually working my way up to Associate Art Director on 3 publications: Detroit Home, Metro Detroit Bride and DBusiness magazine.
Meanwhile, I started a food blog, Take a Megabite, and kept it goin’ strong for 8 years. All that blogging helped me realize how much I love food styling. Posting about this biz on Insta caught the attention of Organic (an agency in Troy, MI) where I wrote, photographed, designed and produced shoots for all of the U by Kotex social content. Despite the fact that I can now tie periods into any topic, my heart wanted to get more into food. So after being contacted to style a few collection photo shoots for Bon Bon Bon, it was clear that we were a match made in heaven (or Hamtramck). I worked as the Creative Director for 3+ years and have since stepped out on my own to be a freelance creative director/social media manager/food stylist and more! My most recent project is this Camp Joy zine as well as reels for Smooj. I also just completely made my own zine: MEGAZINE. Check it out.
